The animation and visuals of the film are also very good and beautiful, which is something that these sequels after the first films (except for one) do a progressively good job on and only get better with each film. I do like some of the new characters here and think they're done character wise, decent for the most part. Flynn, the elephant seal, is also pretty funny with his lovable idiot like innocence despite being one of Gutt's followers. Even though she's mainly there just to be the love interest to Diego, Shira was a pretty cool addition as a sort of anti-hero like character, going from an enemy to an ally by the end. Going along with that, though its a problem we will get into, there are a few other standout new characters, like Sid's Granny, who is mildy amusing with her rugged and grouchy personality as this crotchety old lady sloth. The first big positive about this film is the inclusion of Captain Gutt, a Gigantopithecus pirate captain, who I think is a very fun presence as the villain of the picture, to where he plays both the more funny and suave side of him as a pirate but could instantly turn ruthless and threatening in a snap, especially towards the end, and is greatly voiced by Peter Dinklage, who makes him one of the more memorable and entertaining parts of the movie, and as the main villain of the film, he does pretty good. Here we are back again with our Ice Age review series, as we review the fourth entry of the franchise, Ice Age: Continental Drift, which has always been a sequel that I'm mixed on as there are things I really like about this sequel while at the same time, though I don't hate this movie, this feels like the beginning of the franchise starting to become a bit stale and not as special, but how does it fair as a continuation after the end of the third film? Let's get into it. Studio: 20th Century Fox, Blue Sky Studios Director: Steve Martino & Michael Thurmeier
